ZipCar
Zipcar is the world's largest car sharing and car share service. Use a car by the hour or day without the hassles of owning or renting a car. Zipcar is the closest thing to owning a car without the cost and headaches. It's also more convenient, cost-effective and more fun than renting. Available in a growing number of metropolitan areas across the nation, including Greater Boston.

It has not quite reached Wakefield MA (the closest car, as of 4/29/07, is in Malden, MA) but it is worth checking out!

MassBike
The primary purposes of MassBike are:  to serve and protect the interests of the bicycling public in Massachusetts, to promote the bicycle as a healthy, enjoyable, efficient, and environment-friendly means of transportation and recreation, to promote a physical geographic context and vehicular traffic environment that enhance these qualities and ensure the safety of transportation by bicycle, and to help more people adopt the bicycle for transportation and recreation.

MassBike chapters work on the projects that matter most to their local communities and regions. Projects of chapters include youth and adult bicyclist education, bike parking, bike paths maintenance; working with town governments, including bicycle advisory committees, and advocating for bike plans.

And, don't forget the MBTA!
